8/15/15 National Creek Complex (Southwest Oregon - Crater Lake Area) Traffic Safety Announcment

Crater Lake National Park, OR- Crater Lake National Park, Oregon Department of Transportation and National Creek Fire Complex officials urge motorists to use caution while traveling State Highway 138 and 62 near the fire area and Crater Lake National Park West Rim Drive. West Rim Drive can be very busy this time of year. National Park Officials ask visitors to park in designated parking areas only to view the fire or firefighting activities. Travelers using State Highway 138 and 62 should also avoid parking on the shoulder of the highway to view the fire.
State Highway 230 remains closed until further notice. Fire managers continue to evaluate reopening the road based on current and predicted fire activity. Currently fire is at the Highway in several places it is being used as the primary fire containment line for the north part of the fire. Fire traffic is very heavy at this time. Highway 230 will be reopened as soon as it safe for public travel.
