7/13/2015 West Fork Fire Update PM

The fire is burning on the Malheur National Forest, less than a mile south of private land. It is in an area burned in 2006 by the Thorn Fire, which was part of the Shake Table Complex of fires. It is burning in extremely steep terrain with many snags.
The management of the West Fork Fire was transferred back to the Malheur National Forest at 6 a.m. today.
At present the fire poses no immediate threat but as seasonal weather returns and unburned fuels between the fire and the containment lines dry the fire will need to be monitored closely.
A primary objective is to keep the fire from spreading north onto private land.
A closure is in effect for Forest Road 2150 from the junction with Forest Road 2150-070 west to the Aldrich Lookout. This is to protect the public and firefighters.
