Yesterday the fire spotted on to the east side of Rennie Creek and rapidly burned up the steep slope beneath Rennie Peak, but has stopped short of the top by about 500 feet where the alpine timber turns to rock.  The northwest edge continues to exhibit moderate fire behavior as it burns through downed wood from previous fires and the stringers of conifer forest.  The fire gained about 130 acres.

The Unaweep module began securing the confluence of Boulder Creek and its unnamed tributary using water from the pump equipment and hose that was delivered via helicopter sling load yesterday morning.  The Huron-Manistee module remained at the higher elevations keeping a close watch on fire behavior to keep the Unaweep crew safe.  Today's work will again apply direct attack in the Boulder Creek bottom with a full contingent of lookouts monitoring fire behavior.

In Winthrop, the Incident Command Post for Lone Mountain 1 Fire is relocating from Liberty Bell High School to the North Cascades Smokejumper Base at Methow Valley Airport today. With the move comes a new phone line, so please note our new number.
