Carlton Complex Fire Update
Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team- Pete Blume, Incident Commander Information Center: 509-996-9971
Hours of operation: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. Email: carltoncomplexfire@gmail.com

Current Status
Taking advantage of yesterday’s favorable weather conditions, fire crews made substantial progress on line completion on the Rising Eagle Road Fire and the Carlton Complex. Fire crews worked aggressively towards containment; strengthening line as high winds are due in the area this Tuesday.
Five hotshot crews, with helicopter assistance, began to construct direct line on the steep western and northern portions of the fire perimeter near Pearrygin Lake. Air resources continue to play a vital role in the successful containment of this complex; supporting suppression efforts and assisting with critical initial attack fires in the vicinity.
Today’s operational priorities focus on containment of the 502-acre Rising Eagle Road Fire, finishing the direct line construction near Pearrygin Lake, securing the containment line east of Leecher Lookout and mopping up northwest of the ski area on Highway 20. The eastern and southern zones of the fire will be monitored by patrol and aerial reconnaissance. Structural engines are in place to patrol for new flare ups and respond to initial attack in the Methow Valley wildland/ urban interface. The Washington National Guard continues to support the incident by staffing road closures.

Closures

Highway 20 is open to all traffic.
The Forest Closure Order has been expanded to include a larger area to the north of the Carlton Complex. Current closure information can be obtained by calling the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest (509) 996-4000 or on the web at http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/okawen/alerts-notices
