7/18/2014 Pine Creek & Jack Knife Fire Update

What: Wildland Fires   Started: July 14, 2014     Causes:  Lightning
Location: Pine Creek 11 miles South of Fossil OR.  Jack Knife 8 miles SE of Grass Valley OR.

Today the Western Montana Type 2 Incident Management Team, Team Fry assumed responsibility for both fires (Pine Creek and Jack Knife fires).  Resources are continuing to arrive at the Incident Command Center in Fossil Oregon, and be assigned to the fires.

Pine Creek Fire
Yesterday firefighters continued establishing line on the South side of the fire and utilized aircraft to hold the fire.  The contingency line on the West was also reinforced.  Structure protection personnel conducted scouting and evaluation of 16 structures to the East of the fire.
Current Size:  15,185 acres   Containment:  0 %
Resources on Fire:  Personnel 279, thee helicopters, eight crews, twenty two engines, one bulldozer and three water tenders.
Special Concerns: High winds and Red Flag conditions.  Please use caution when driving on local roads as fire equipment and personnel are on the roads.

Jack Knife Fire
Yesterday firefighters secured firelines and began mopup.  Fire is holding and significant containment is expected by end of shift tonight.
Current Size:  12,850 acres   Containment:  30 %
Resources on Fire:  Personnel 132, one hot shot crew, 3 Initial Attack crews, two helicopters, eleven engines.
Special Concerns: High winds and Red Flag conditions.  Please use caution when driving on local roads as fire equipment and personnel are on the roads.
